The Edward J. Ryan, III Memorial Scholarship
The Edward J. Ryan, III Memorial Scholarship is named for the Chair of the ENTECH School Advisory Board that passed away in 2021 after a brief illness. Ed began working in the energy industry after graduating high school and in 1989 founded the Ryan Oil Company proudly working each day with his wife Paula and son Eddie. Ed was a member of the ENTECH Advanced Energy Training School Advisory Board, serving as Chair for two and a half years. A member of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Energy Marketer’s Association and a longtime member of the National Association of Oil & Energy Service Professionals.
The Edward J. Ryan, III Memorial Scholarship provides essential financial support for aspiring students seeking a technical education as they prepare to enter the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning industry.
Qualified scholarship applicants will be at least 18 years of age and pursuing their Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning education at ENTECH Advanced Energy Training.
Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic performance, leadership and participation, long-term career and educational goals, financial need and other criteria. The amount for the
scholarship award will be from $500 to $5000 and awarded while the applicant attends ENTECH Advanced Energy Training. The award will be applied to your tuition balance.
The award is contingent on your performance including; mechanical aptitude, grades, 95% attendance, and attitude, as determined by the staff, and maintaining a grade point average of 85% or higher for the HVAC Program. The award will be based upon review from the ENTECH staff and meeting the required criteria. If these conditions are not met the scholarship will be revoked. The remainder of the tuition cost is your responsibility and must be paid according to school policies set forth in our enrollment agreement.
Application process: The applicants’ essay should include items such as interest in the trade, mechanical ability, goals within the HVAC industry, educational background, extra-curricular and community activities. Describe how your background has prepared you for success in your chosen field of study, and where you see yourself in the next 3-5 years. Resume and three reference letters are required. Application submissions are accepted within the first 6 weeks of each semester, unless otherwise stated.
The ENTECH School Advisory Board will make determinations of eligibility and criteria and decide how many, if any, scholarships will be awarded for the year. After review of applications and interviews, successful applicants will be notified by regular mail if they have been selected for the scholarship. The scholarship award must be used within one year of the award date or it will be revoked. If the applicant declines the scholarship, the offer of the scholarship is revoked.
